ProVent

The treatment of water is a very large and diverse industry. It encompasses sewage plants from local authorities treating vast quantities of both domestic and industrial sewage to individual companies treating their own industrial waste with in-house effluent plants.

Modern industrial effluent and wastewater treatment procedures produce foam, which not only limit the capacity of the plant, but also can be a hazard to both man and the environment.

Environmental controls mean that not only do effluent streams have to be controlled, but also that the recovery of valuable products has to be possible. ProVent not only increases the effectiveness of systems but also aids recovery of valuables. By eliminating foam, ProVent also improves the visual aspects of treatment plants.

Main Uses

ProVent is a highly effective silicone based antifoam emulsion, which we have developed specifically for Northumbrian Water and other applications where quick knockdown of foam is required. ProVent is used at low concentrations. It is versatile in processing operations and acts physically, not chemically, avoiding product contamination. ProVent is particularly useful where chlorination of sewage treatment occurs before final discharge.

Main Advantages

  • Inert non-toxic
  • COD value less than 300mg/g
  • BOD value of approximately 130mg/g
  • Negligible effect on bacteria in a waste digestion system
  • Inorganic so will not increase oxygen demand
  • Acceptable under UK, Europe & US food regulations

Application

ProVent disperses easily in both hot and cold aqueous systems, requiring only mild agitation to disperse it completely in the foaming system.

The quantity of ProVent required in general between 100 and 500ppm. (500ppm = 0.5 litres of product to 1000 litres of foaming media).
